Impartiality Policy

Certigence is committed to impartiality in all certification activities.

Our Commitment to Impartiality

Certigence is committed to ensuring impartiality in all certification activities. We recognise that impartiality is fundamental to the credibility and integrity of our certification services. Our management systems and processes are designed to identify, assess, and mitigate threats to impartiality.

Certigence and its personnel shall not be subject to any commercial, financial, or other pressure that might compromise impartiality.

Identifying Threats to Impartiality

We have established procedures to identify and address potential threats to impartiality, including but not limited to:

  • Self-interest threats — arising from a person or body acting in their own interest
  • Self-review threats — arising from auditing one's own work
  • Familiarity threats — arising from close relationships with clients
  • Intimidation threats — arising from the perception of being coerced

Impartiality Committee

An independent Impartiality Committee provides oversight of our certification activities. The committee reviews processes, identifies potential conflicts of interest, and ensures all certification decisions are made without bias.

The committee includes representatives from diverse stakeholder groups to ensure balanced and independent oversight.

Managing Conflicts of Interest

We regularly review our processes to identify and eliminate any potential threats to impartiality. Any situation that could present a conflict of interest is promptly addressed through our established procedures.

Clear separation of audit, decision-making, and commercial functions
Defined competence criteria and authorisation for auditors
Independent committee oversight of impartiality risks
Procedures to address conflicts of interest at all levels
