Data-Driven Quality

Six Sigma

Reduce process variation to near-zero defects using a rigorous, statistically grounded improvement methodology.

Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach to process improvement that targets a defect rate of fewer than 3.4 per million opportunities. It is applied alongside Lean to deliver dramatic, measurable improvement.

What is Six Sigma?

Six Sigma was developed at Motorola in the 1980s and adopted at scale by GE, Honeywell and others. It uses the DMAIC framework - Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control - to remove the root causes of defects.

Practitioners are certified at Yellow, Green, Black and Master Black Belt levels, with each tier representing increasing expertise in statistical methods and project leadership.

Key Benefits

Why organisations choose Six Sigma.

Defect Reduction

Process capability improvements typically take defect rates from percentage points to parts-per-million.

Decisions on Data

Statistical analysis replaces opinion - every improvement is grounded in measurement.

Hard $ Savings

Black Belt projects routinely deliver £100k+ of validated savings each.

Sustained Control

Control plans and statistical process control keep improvements in place over time.

Capability Building

Belt training builds an internal cadre of improvement leaders across your organisation.

Customer Confidence

Six Sigma certification is a recognised quality signal in regulated and high-stakes supply chains.

Who is it for?

Six Sigma fits organisations across many sectors. It is particularly relevant for:

  • High-volume manufacturing and process industries
  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device organisations
  • Financial services and insurance back-office operations
  • Aerospace, automotive and defence supply chains
  • IT service management and shared service centres
  • Any organisation managing complex, repeatable processes
